The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 is set to be the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It is scheduled to take place in Malmö, Sweden, following the country’s victory at the 2023 contest with the song „Tattoo“ by Loreen.
Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT), the contest will be held at the Malmö Arena, and will consist of two semi-finals on 7 and 9 May, and a final on 11 May 2024. It will be the third edition of the contest to take place in Malmö, which hosted it in 1992 and 2013, and the seventh in Sweden, which last hosted it in Stockholm in 2016.
Thirty-seven countries were confirmed to participate in the contest, with Luxembourg returning 31 years after its last participation in 1993 – while Romania is still in discussion regarding its participation.
The first semifinal took place on May 7, 2024 at 9:00 p.m. (CEST). Divided into the two semi-finals, a total of 31 songs compete for the 20 available places in the final. In the first semi-final all participating countries voted. The United Kingdom, Germany and Sweden appeared in this semi-final and were eligible to vote, too.
The show was opened by Eleni Foureira (Spain 2018), Eric Saade (Sweden 2010) and Chanel Terrero (Spain 2022), who performed their ESC contributions. To fill the breaks during the voting, Benjamin Ingrosso (Sweden 2018) performed a medley of his songs and Johnny Logan (Ireland 1980 and 1987) performed the song „Euphoria“ by Loreen (Winnersong 2012).

The big FINAL of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest will take place on May 11, 2024 at 9:00 p.m. (CEST).
Ten songs out of the first and ten songs of the second semi final will qualify for the final – plus Germany, Spain, France, Italy, United Kingdom and the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest Sweden as the automatic qualifier. In addition to the 26 finalists, all countries that have already been eliminated in the semi-finals will also be entitled to vote. Likewise, all people worldwide can vote, but their votes are collected as „Rest of the World“ and awarded as a single country.
Last year’s winner Loreen appears in the break program. The starting order will be determined by competition producer Christer Björkman after the second semi-final. Unlike in previous years, only twelve final entries will be allocated a starting half in advance; the remaining 13 can be placed freely by Björkman. The starting number one for the host country Sweden was drawn in March.
Ireland will take part in the final for the first time in 6 years and Luxembourg for the first time in 31 years.
